Ischia’s Regina Isabella Resort has expanded its thermal spa program to include treatment for long COVID, or “post-COVID syndrome.” Long COVID causes victims to exhibit continued acute symptoms months after their initial recovery from the virus. Some of the most common symptoms include shortness of breath, brain fog, headaches, fatigue, and loss of taste and smell, among others.

Regina Isabella’s new treatment program is designed to tackle these symptoms with thermal water, mud treatments, and nutritional counseling to activate the body’s natural immune response and reduce inflammation. The secret is in the thermal water’s ability to stimulate the immune system to promote the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines, enabling the body to heal on its own without the need for conventional medication. By also targeting stress, diet, and gastrointestinal disorders, the regimen takes a well-rounded offensive approach against long COVID symptoms, guiding patients towards a swift recovery and greater quality of life.

Regina Isabella boasts a dedicated team of medical personnel to administer the procedure, including specialist physicians, a nutritionist, a psychologist upon request, a physiotherapist, and numerous thermal operators. The basic package ($490) includes a medical examination, a personalized nutrition plan, six inhalation treatments, three respiratory rehabilitation sessions, three sessions of adapted physical activity, and an online psychotherapy appointment. An extended package with six bioactive mud and thermal baths is also available for $990. Prices for the long COVID spa program do not include accommodations.

Nestled on a private beach overlooking the Bay of Naples, the 128-room Regina Isabella Resort is attached to the Terme della Regina Isabella Spa, whose healing waters were first tapped by the Romans. Today’s resort offers dozens of beauty and health treatments.
