Poolside spa treatments offer the ultimate in alfresco healing.

Mr. C Beverly Hills is a cool, Italian-inspired hotel from the acclaimed Cipriani hospitality family that is located conveniently between Beverlywood and Beverly Hills in sunny Southern California. It’s probably best known for its unique heritage, its luxe design, and its award-winning restaurant. But its beauty—and appeal—is more than skin deep. I recently spent a few nights at this charming hotel to uncover its wellness secrets and discovered it also offers a treasure trove of options for travelers who like to keep wellness in mind.

Accommodations

Mr. C features a variety of spacious room types, including one- and two-bedroom suites and king and two-queen guest room accommodations. All include cool black-and-white photos of Italian celebs from the ‘50s and ‘60s and luggage-inspired furniture and décor, which gives the room a chic, international feel.

I stayed in a Premium Beverly Hills King room and enjoyed stunning views of the city, including a distant glimpse of the famous Hollywood sign. All the rooms feature balconies, and I spent plenty of time on mine soaking in the sun and enjoying the fresh air and lovely scenery. I left my doors open most of the time to maximize the natural air and light, but the hotel does have air filters that are available upon request for guests desiring an extra element of filtration.

Another standout was the chic bathroom that featured a rain shower, tasteful marble accents, and luxe La Bottega amenities. Since my visit, a full mini-bar program has been instituted to offer a wide selection of snacks and beverages. When I was there, I filled mini-fridge with my own water and fruit (there is a charming area filled with shops, restaurants, and a grocery store just a couple blocks away on Beverly Drive if you want to stock up on healthy snacks). There is also an extensive room service menu, so guests can get whatever they need quickly and easily, including healthy food and beverages.

Dining

I had a divine dinner my first night at The Restaurant at Mr. C, where I discovered a fun fact: Giuseppe Cipriani, the originator of the Cipriani hospitality dynasty, was the proprietor of Harry’s Bar in Venice in the 1930s and is credited with inventing both the Bellini and beef carpaccio, which is one of my favorite things to eat. Of course, I had to give the Beef Carpaccio alla Cipriani a try, and it did not disappoint. Whether you are watching calories or wanting to splurge, there are both healthy and more decadent items on the menu, and I got to sample a hearty—and delicious—selection of both. Other standouts included a divine vegan soup of the day, a wonderful selection of handmade pastas, and an assortment of scrumptious desserts. The service was also excellent. The team there was engaging, informed, and extremely attentive, and I was quite impressed.

During my visit, I also took advantage of the room service menu for breakfast and enjoyed the Mr. C Power Breakfast, which included eggs, toast, and a nourishing customized smoothie. The hotel recently rolled out a grab-n-go breakfast featuring several healthy choices, as well. According to James Sheets, director of sales and marketing, future plans that tap into the rich culinary heritage of the hotel include a series of healthy cooking classes.

Spa & Fitness

There are several healthy standouts at Mr. C when it comes to wellness, including a well-appointed 1,000-square-foot, 24-hour fitness center and The Yacht Club Pool Club, a 4,500-square-foot luxury pool area, complete with cozy seating, private cabanas, and a poolside bar with dining options.

Spa services can take place either in the intimate spa, within the comfort of guest rooms, or in a poolside cabana. Yoga and other outdoor group and individual fitness classes can also be enjoyed poolside and in other areas of the hotel.

Mr. C also has a partnership with Onassis Skin Health, an acclaimed Beverly Hills skincare clinic. Guests can enjoy in-room services performed by the Onassis team that include the Red Carpet Liquid Gold Facial ($1,200, 20 minutes), which uses a 24-carat-gold-plated micro-injection system that painlessly delivers custom solutions into the skin using 600 micron-depth microneedles to reach the dermis. The single-use disposable applicator contains a reservoir that can be filled with ingredients including vitamins, enzymes, hormones plant extracts, micro quantities of Botox, and hyaluronic acid fillers tailored to specific skin needs. “It produces a glow just in time for any red carpet or special event,” says Sheets.

Other available in-room treatments include an assortment of IV therapies to address specific guest needs, including Essential IV Therapy: Hydrate + Essential Vitamins ($695), Skin Glow Cocktail and 500mg NAD+ ($795), and Methyl Vitamin Bag with 1,500mg NAD+ ($1,200).

I also appreciate that Mr. C keeps employee wellbeing in mind and hosts a weekly Health & Wellbeing event for the team. It includes a walk block party, an exercise class, a steps challenge, and care package of trail mix, B12 shots, wellness shots, and juices.

Sustainability Efforts

Mr. C contributes to the wellbeing of the planet with a variety of visible and behind-the-scenes sustainability initiatives, which further adds to its appeal, particularly for sustainably-minded travelers. Efforts include eco-friendly dry-cleaning service and laundry services, environmentally friendly cleaning products, repurposing of old linens into cleaning cloths to support landfill reduction, a digital newspaper initiative to reduce paper use from traditional newspapers, the use of biodegradable travel coffee cups, the elimination of plastic straws, a recycling program in guest rooms and associate workspaces, a linen and towel reuse option for guests to conserve water, solar power installation on select buildings, and the installation of electric car charging stations. The Mr. C executive team also conducts monthly meetings to discuss the monitoring and evaluating of environmental performance throughout the hotel and has also launched an employee carpool initiative to incentivize and reward employees for reducing their emissions

As for the future, I predict that Mr. C will continue to shine. The hotel is slated for a renovation in the next few years, which will help it maintain its position as an enticing place to see, be seen, and support the wellbeing goals of guests.
