Despite being told to “lean in” and bring a chair to the table, women are discovering that the old models of leadership are no longer working. At Well Defined’s Women in Leadership Summit in New York City on April 21, 2026, Amanda Litman, co-founder and president of Run for Something (RFS), will lead a session on When We’re In Charge: Moving Beyond the Old Playbook to Redefine a New Style of Leadership for Today’s Evolving Workplace. Learn how to show up differently, break the cycle of bad leadership, and navigate the changing demands of those in power and the evolving expectations people have of work.

Well versed on what it takes to lead, Litman founded RFS to recruit and support young, diverse progressives to run for down-ballot offices. Since launching in 2017, RFS has elected more than 1,500 leaders across nearly all 50 states, mostly women and people of color.

Litman also wrote Run For Something: A Real-Talk Guide to Fixing the System Yourself, and more recently, When We’re In Charge: The Next Generation’s Guide to Leadership. In her session, Litman will share how to be yourself without giving your full self to your role, how to set up guardrails for work-life balance, and the important lessons she has learned from conversations with more than 100 next-gen leaders in her book, When We’re In Charge

Before Litman launched RFS, she worked as a digital strategist, serving as email director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, the digital director for Charlie Crist’s 2014 gubernatorial campaign, deputy email director for Organizing for Action, and an email writer for Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

In 2022, Litman was named one of the Time NEXT 100, a list of rising stars from around the world who are shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership. She is also a 2025-2026 Obama Foundation USA Leader.

Get your tickets today to hear Litman speak at our upcoming Women in Leadership Summit.
