2020 is a year of reinventions, and nowhere is that more evident than at Mii amo (Sedona, AZ). The award-winning destination spa has announced plans for an extensive renovation and expansion—the last guests will depart on Jan. 3, and a revitalized Mii amo will be unveiled in the spring of 2022. “The goal of Mii amo ‘2.0’ is not to change Mii amo, but to make it a better, more elevated version of itself,” says general manager Jim Root. “Mii amo is beloved by its guests, who return year after year for unique treatments provided by incredible therapists. The essence of Mii amo will endure—but with refreshed facilities.”

Upon reopening, Mii amo will debut a collection of elevated experiences, including some designed to foster a deeper connection to the Native American and energetic perspectives of the region. New, enhanced movement and fitness studios and programs will speak to guests’ evolving tastes and priorities in the areas of physical fitness and health. A new indoor-outdoor signature restaurant with a state-of-the art kitchen will offer innovative culinary and nutrition programming. In addition to renovating the existing 16 casita rooms, new casita rooms and suites will be added.

“When we opened twenty years ago, a key objective was to create buildings and spaces that were distinctly of this place, reflecting the spirit of Boynton Canyon,” says Dana Tang, an owner of Mii amo and partner of Gluckman Tang Architects. Tang and her team were the original architects of Mii amo and are responsible for the design of the upcoming renovations and expansion. “We seek to preserve the essence of Mii amo’s design while providing new feature spaces that further connect our guests to the landscape and the place,” she says.

During the time Mii amo is physically unavailable, guests will be encouraged to stay connected through Pause & Journey programming. New content and virtual events will be featured through email newsletters, social media, and the website. “We are committed to building bridges, so our guests continue to be touched by the spirit of Mii amo until we reopen,” says Root.

Also, during the renovation, select body treatments, skincare services, massage, and other experiences will be provided by Mii amo’s team of intuitive therapists at the destination spa’s adjacent sister property, Enchantment Resort, through the newly created Spa Suites at Boynton Canyon. Guests will also enjoy exclusive access to multi-use areas where private consultations, astrology, and other popular activities will be offered by the Mii amo staff. Fitness and mindfulness programs will be held in the new Canyon Studio at Enchantment Resort.

“Through this reinvestment in Mii amo, we acknowledge our guests and our team members and elevate our commitment to them,” says Tracy Tang Limpe, a Mii amo owner. “We cannot wait to welcome new and loyal guests to our new Mii amo in 2022.”
