The Farmhouse Inn (Forestville, CA), a family-owned country inn encompassing 10-acres of wooded property, is ushering in a new era as it celebrates its milestone 20th anniversary. It recently debuted the Wellness Barn, a new spa offering a range of holistic treatments inspired by the natural surroundings of the Russian River Valley. Led by new spa and wellness director Irisha Steele, the Wellness Barn will allow guests and visitors to experience the luxury boutique hotel in a new way.
The 3,000-square-feet, three-treatment room spa is set in a beautiful open-air horse stable-inspired structure built in 2014. It features wide shutters, high ceilings, stable doors, and custom equestrian drawings. Bringing the outdoors in, the Wellness Barn includes outdoor spaces off each treatment room where guests can shower and lounge following their services.
Steele, who previously served as wellness director at The St. Regis Aspen, has created a thoughtfully curated menu of mind-body treatments to entice guests. From couples on a romantic wine country retreat to wellness enthusiasts on a getaway with friends to expecting parents celebrating a babymoon and more, the Wellness Barn is sure to tempt guests with its various specialty treatments. Some highlights include:
Gem + Stones ($355, 90 minutes)
Warm basalt stones and cool gemstones come together in this tailored therapeutic massage designed to ease tension, reduce inflammation, and create balance.
Spirit Path ($355, 90 minutes)
The hypnotic song of pure quartz singing bowls, personalized energy balancing, and the stimulation of potent marma points on the face, head, and scalp help to uplift the spirit and realign the physical and energetic body.
Nurtured by Nature ($425, 2 hours)
Invoking the spirit of the region, this treatment relies on sun-evaporated Pacific Sea salt to remineralize the skin, while wild mustard seed and healing clays purify the body during a warm wrap infusion. An alfresco shower is followed by a spritz of coastal redwood mist and a tailored massage with a signature blend of farmhouse oils and butters.
Sourcing many of its ingredients, the spa incorporates passionflower, grown on the property and used in a specialty tea for relaxation; wild mustard seed, used in mud masks and a great source of magnesium; oakmoss oil, ideal for opening the airways during massage treatments; and redwood oil, calming for mind and spirit. Other popular ingredients include lavender, rosemary, peppermint, and sage, which are grown on the property or by local partners.
The Wellness Barn has partnered with EVOO-based skincare and bodycare brand McEvoy Ranch, Sumbody Skincare, and Whimsy Makes, which creates custom fashion and accessories using plants and flowers from the Farmhouse Inn.
