22 Nourishing Hyaluronic Acid Products That Help Skin Feel Spectacular

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of my favorite skincare ingredients. In fact, I often joke that I would bathe in it if I could. Turns out, after I started gathering products to review and received dozens of submissions, I just about could.

While it took me a little longer than usual as I dove into this range of hydrating offerings, it was worth it, and my love of HA was confirmed with skin that looked refreshed and renewed.

It’s not surprising, as HA offers countless skincare benefits. Our bodies produce HA to help maintain our skin’s moisture levels and to help boost the skin’s barrier—HA binds to water to help retain up to 1,000 thousand times its weight in moisture, which keeps skin looking plump and youthful. Unfortunately, as we age, our natural production of HA decreases, so products that contain the ingredient become even more important.

As topical HA is applied to the skin, it plumps, moisturizes, protects, strengthens, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, it works well with several other ingredients to further improve the skin’s appearance. A recent study of women who used HA in a lotion, serum, or cream demonstrated an increase of skin hydration of up to 96 percent after eight weeks of use.

Still, not all HA is created equal. Different formulations, molecule sizes, complementary ingredients, and more can impact the efficacy of HA products, so it’s best to do your research to find a product that is best suited for your skin type and needs.

Here, I’ve done some of that work for you. Check out these 22 HA products to decide which one may work best for you or your clients.

Aforé Beauty Moisture Complete ($95)
Ingredients of Note
  • Aloe
  • Green tea leaf extract
  • Squalene
  • Hyaluronic acid

I have skin that tends toward dehydration, so I prefer a thick moisturizer. This one fits the bill. The texture is rich and luxurious, and my skin was visibly hydrated after use. It includes ingredients that I know work well for me, including HA, green tea, aloe, and squalene. It is also free of parabens, sulfates, and gluten and is vegan and cruelty free.

Ingredients of Note
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Jojoba oil
  • Green tea
  • Hyaluronic acid

Now in new packaging, this affordable HA product gives off a gender-neutral vibe, both in its appearance and its lack of flowery scent. Its blend of ingredients also makes it ideal for all skin types. Antioxidant-rich vitamin C addresses hyperpigmentation and spots, vitamin E nourishes dry and dehydrated skin, anti-inflammatory jojoba oil reduces redness, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial green tea helps with oily skin and blemishes, and HA alleviates dry skin. I found this to be effective and quickly absorbable, which makes it great for on the go.

Beauty Through Balance Hydra Skin Renewal Gel Mask ($37, available exclusively through spa and retail partners)

Beauty Through Balance Hydra Skin Renewal Gel Mask ($37, available exclusively through spa and retail partners)
Ingredients of Note
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Green tea
  • Grapeseed
  • Cucumber extract
  • Pacific seaweed
  • Papaya enzyme
  • Vitamin C

Everything about this gel mask is simply refreshing, particularly its scent. I liked using it after a long day in the sun and found it to be extremely healing. This makes sense considering the number of hydrating ingredients, including HA, green tea, grapeseed, cucumber extract, and Pacific seaweed. Papaya enzyme helps gently remove of dry and dead skin cells for improved skin clarity and brightening, while vitamin C offers antioxidant benefits. I only used it on my face, but it is also ideal for use on the body to firm skin and reduce the appearance of new stretch marks, scar tissue, and cellulite.

Biohyalux Soothing Recovery Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($41.60)
Ingredients of Note
  • Four molecular weights of hyaluronic acid
  • Ceremides
  • Ectoine
  • Chamomilla extract

If you can trust one thing about this high-tech serum, it’s that it has been thoroughly researched and developed. This line of HA products leverages the expertise of the brand’s parent company, Bloomage Biotechnology, the world’s largest manufacturer of HA. The products are made using a patented technology known as Hexagonal Hyaluronic Acid Formulation (HHAF), an HA complex made of four different molecular weights, with each weight formulated to reach different depths of skin. I tried the Soothing Recovery Serum and loved it—it’s fragrance free, absorbs quickly, and provides immediate hydration. The HA works well with other ingredients to target areas in skin that trigger inflammation, alleviate signs of irritation and dryness, and enhance the skin’s natural barrier against environmental stressors. I also like that there is a serum for every skin type, each of which features additional ingredients to address the specific needs of the user. Other options include Hydro Intense Serum, Lifting & Firming Serum, Purifying Serum, Brightening & Boosting Serum, and Insta-Rejuvenation Serum. Another cool aspect—the packaging. Each system comes complete with a set of 30 individually packaged ampoules nestled into one box.

Caire Theorum Serum Boost ($56)
Ingredients of Note
  • Triple hyaluronic acid
  • HA growth factor

I particularly like that this serum addresses the needs of women who are facing menopausal skincare issues. It’s got a cult following, and its popularity is no surprise as it is really effective. It was created specifically for dramatically changing skin due to hormone changes during and after menopause. It worked for me, and that’s not surprising thanks to its infusion of HA that includes both a triple HA and HA growth factor, which drive hydration deep into the skin and allow it to instantly nourish and support HA synthesis in the long-term.

Cirem HCR 3-in-1 Serum ($89.50)
Ingredients of Note
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Vitamin C
  • Retinol

I normally shy away from products that contain retinol, as they tend to irritate my skin. So, I was a little nervous to test this one out. Turns out, I didn’t have anything to worry about. This fast-absorbing serum felt great on my skin. The HA seemed to buffer the effect of the retinol, and I used it specifically on my décolleté, where I have some hyperpigmentation from sun exposure. Afterward, my skin was bright, smooth, and hydrated. I also like the inclusion of vitamin C to protect the skin from free radicals and environmental stressors, such as UV and pollution. Clinical studies have also proven its effectiveness—it was shown to increase immediate moisturization by 255 percent while increasing moisturization after 24 hours by 100 percent.

Clique Beauty Restore – A Correcting Treatment Serum ($85)
Ingredients of Note
  • Red algae
  • Niacinamide
  • Carob seed extract
  • Mung bean sprout stem cell
  • Phyto-melanin
  • Aquaxyl
  • Sodium hyaluronate

This serum has been expertly formulated to address issues related to aging skin. One of its main ingredients, aquaxyl, is a combo of plant-derived humectancts that help the skin produce more HA. It’s one of 10 cutting-edge formulation technologies used to create this lightweight serum that tackles issues like fine and deep lines, sagging, sun damage, discoloration, and dehydration. Other active ingredients include protective and restorative red algae, barrier-improving niacinamide (vitamin B3), reparative carob seed extract, collagen-protecting mung bean sprout stem cells, and phyto-melanin, which protects the skin against light from devices. The scent is subtle, and the texture is light and silky. It pairs nicely with the brand’s nourishing and firming Regenerate cream, which has some of the same ingredients and further protects the skin’s barrier.

Cornelia Pure Hylauronic Hydrating Booster ($72)
Ingredients of Note
  • Rice bran peptides
  • Laminaria and porphyra algae
  • Cucumber extract
  • Vitamin E
  • L-ergothioneine
  • 30 percent pure hyaluronic gel

A little bit goes a long way when using this lovely HA gel serum—one pump covered my face and neck. I also like the texture and the fact that it quickly absorbs. It is ideal for aging skin, as it addresses multiple issues. Along with ultra-hydrating and plumping HA, peptides and algae extracts boost elasticity, algae extracts also optimize cell renewal, antioxidant l-ergothioneine defends against oxidative stress, and cucumber extract soothes.

Doctor Babor Power Serum Ampoules: Hyaluronic Acid ($49.95)
Ingredients of Note
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Booster tripeptides

I don’t know what it is, but I find it extremely satisfying to crack open a skincare ampoule and receive the exact right amount of product for my face and neck (plus a little extra that I like to use on my hands). It feels very scientific, and I also found it to be extremely effective and with immediate results. This is courtesy of four different weights of advanced HAs, as well as booster tripeptides that work together to deliver intense hydration and effectively plump the skin. I also appreciate that the ampoules are very simple. Along with minimal ingredients, they are also free from fragrances, artificial colorants, silicones, sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and are gluten and cruelty free.

Love, Indus Amrutini Precious Potion Vital Cream ($110)
Ingredients of Note
  • Muga silk
  • Makaibari silver tips imperial tea
  • Jojoba
  • Squalene
  • Shea butter
  • Copper PCA
  • Sodium hyaluronate

This luxe cream includes HA, but I most enjoyed how it honors Indian heritage. The potion, a rich pale blue cream, is inspired by the time-honored tradition of Shata Dhauta Ghrita (hundred times washed ghee), in which copper’s therapeutic qualities lend themselves to an alchemical process that promises youth and vitality. As we age, our skin becomes more fragile and loses elasticity, resulting in fine lines. This cream uses ingredients that provide intense nourishment to rebuild skin’s inherent strength and firmness, leaving it feeling truly rejuvenated while reducing the appearance of fine lines. It is also vegan and free of gluten and soy, and all ingredients are ethically sourced. I also appreciate the company’s origin story. Love, Indus is owned by Surbhee Grover, a woman living in India and New York who created the line to apply cutting-edge technology to hyper-local, precious ingredients and practices from the Indian subcontinent.

Lumene’s Nordic-C [Valo] Glow Boost Essence Serum ($17.79)
Ingredients of Note
  • Two types of hyaluronic acid
  • Wild Arctic cloudberry
  • Vitamin C
  • Pure Arctic spring water

This serum’s bright orange bottle made me smile as is perked up my product shelf. It made my skin happy, too. Just a few drops made my face feel softer and smoother and look refreshed. This is thanks to a blend of two types of HA, antioxidant-rich wild Arctic cloudberry and vitamin C, and refreshing pure Arctic spring water. Another thing I like about this serum? The price. I appreciate it when skincare can be affordable and effective.

Meadow and Bark Hydrating Facial Mist ($28)
Ingredients of Note
  • Lavender
  • Colloidal silver
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Aloe vera juice
  • Willow bark
  • Neroli and jasmine oils

I don’t love putting serum or lotion on my face before working out. But I also don’t love the tight feeling I get when I don’t use products on my skin after cleansing. This was a great solution—a quick spritz before exercising relieved dry skin, but it wasn’t heavy enough to feel gross when I got sweaty. This is because of hydrating and healing ingredients like calming organic lavender, healing colloidal silver, hydrating HA, and aloe vera juice. Plus, white willow bark is antiseptic, so it helps to eradicate unnecessary bacteria and minimize the appearance of enlarged pores while promoting overall pH balance of the skin. I also love the fragrance of neroli and jasmine.

Medik8 HYDR8 B5 Intense ($69)
Ingredients of Note
  • Multi-weight hyaluronic acid
  • Vitamin B5
  • Natural moisturizing factors
  • Triple-Action Booster Complex

The company has supercharged its hero product, Hydr8 B5, with this ultra-moisturizing serum. It harnesses the power of their original best-selling serum with multi-weight HA and vitamin B5 and supercharged it with a triple-action booster complex and natural moisturizing factors (NMFs). The Triple-Action Booster Complex, featuring purple superfood antioxidants, soy extract, and biosaccharide gum, helps to support the skin's natural HA levels while the NMFs, including amino acids, fatty acids, and sodium PCA, enhance the skin's natural ability to retain moisture. The one-two punch worked wonders for my skin, leaving it extremely hydrated and supple. I also love the cool purple bottle, which makes for a pretty shelfie.

PCA SKIN Hyaluronic Acid Overnight Mask ($69)
Ingredients of Note
  • Sodium hyaluronate
  • Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed GAG
  • Niacinamide (2%)
  • Panthenol (2%)
  • Albizia julibrissin bark extract

This mask, which I used in combination with the Hyaluronic Boosting Serum produced the most immediate, visible, and lasting results of all the products I tried. The science behind PCA products has always impressed me, and they certain did it again with this mask. It is made with three HA products, including sodium hyaluronate, which smoothes and hydrates the skin’s surface; hydrolyzed HA, which delves deeper into the skin to plump fine lines and wrinkles; and HP Pro Complex, which promotes the production of HA. Don’t just take my word for it: PCA did a study of 32 patients who applied the mask and left it on for eight hours—92 percent demonstrated a measured increase in moisturization, 100 percent showed a visible increase in facial moisture, and 94 percent felt the product was nourishing to the skin.

Ingredients of Note
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Marine collagen
  • Hibiscus esculentus
  • Panthenol

I love the unique bottle for this serum, which offers a bit of a different delivery dropper than many of the other serums with squeeze tops that I tried. But it’s more than aesthetics that appeal to me. The texture and quick absorbability were also lovely, as were the immediate results that made my skin look healthy and refreshed. The combo of microparticle HA, plumping marine collagen, firming hibiscus, and moisture-preserving panthenol worked well. As a professional brand, Pevonia also recently introduced the Hydra Cloud Treatment through its spa partners, which is a powerful facial that involves a nourishing mask that uses HA and micronized cotton that hydrates, tightens skin, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. This serum is an excellent add-on for post-facial homecare.

Pop Beauty Eye Snatched ($10)
Ingredients of Note
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Licorice
  • Caffeine

These hydrogel eye masks are billed as a great way to give your eyes a wakeup call after a long night. After a bit more wine than necessary one night with friends, I decided to put it to the test to address my puffy, tired-looking eyes the next morning. I also popped them into the fridge for a little extra kick, and they sure did the trick. My eyes looked less puffy and more hydrated, so the HA-licorice-caffeine combo was ideal. I also like that these are affordable, with each box containing five pairs of patches. I didn’t use them for this, but they are also suggested for use during makeup prep to soothe and smooth the undereye before concealer and catch pigment fallout while applying eye shadow.

Pure Inventions Pure Beauty ($31.99)
Ingredients of Note
  • Vitamin C
  • Biotin
  • Cucumber powder
  • Hyaluronic acid

I drink a lot of water. While this is good for me, it can get a little boring. I loved these water infusion drops for a few reasons—one, they made my water intake more fun, and two, I appreciate the idea of getting my HA fix internally as well as externally. It tastes good, giving water a yummy lemon and blueberry taste, which encourages drinking more water, something else that is great for the skin. It’s also zero calorie and free of sugar, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, and gluten, and the packaging is eco-friendly. Along with individual use, I think this is a great option for spas that are looking to add a little something extra to their spa water, particularly for guests who are getting skincare services.

Repêchage Vita Cura B3 Elixir Complex ($170)
Ingredients of Note
  • Sodium hyaluronate
  • Hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate
  • Niacinamide

This product is both elegantly packaged and extremely effective. It is intensely moisturizing, courtesy of two forms of HA (sodium hyaluronate and hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate) that penetrate deep within the surface layers of the skin while helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I enjoyed the texture and slip—two to three pumps were enough to be thoroughly massaged into my face, neck, and décolleté. I used this at night and then another HA-infused product, Repechage Vita Cura Renewal Serum, in the daytime. Along with HA, that serum is made with deep-sea thermus thermophilus and laminaria digitata seaweed extract, two marine ingredients that also work well to address the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

StriVectin Hyaluronic Gel Cushion Cleanser ($29)
Ingredients of Note
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Aloe vera
  • Marine extracts
  • NIA-114

I like the lightweight feeling of this cooling gel cleanser. It also easily removes makeup and made my skin feel soft and refreshed after use. The core ingredients, HA, aloe, marine extracts, and NIA-114, the brand’s proprietary blend of niacin and vitamin B3, worked well together. It’s also sulfate free and formulated for all skin types, not just my sensitive skin. It does have a stronger scent than some of the cleansers I tend to use, which I didn’t mind, but it may be irritating to those who have sensitivities to fragrance.

Suki Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Milk Serum ($65)
Ingredients of Note
  • Sodium hyaluronate
  • Spilanthes acmellaflower extract
  • Pure essential oils of lemon, coriander seed, clove bud, patchouli, palmarosa, cardamom, basil, magnolia, and galbanum

Earlier this year, I tried the Suki Era line for women over 45 for my story on menopausal skincare and loved it, so I was anticipating being a fan of this serum. I was also intrigued by the milky texture, as it was the only serum I tried that was not a transparent gel. I found it to be effective, quick drying, and deeply penetrating. This is perhaps courtesy of the sodium hyaluronate, a highly stable and water-soluble salt form of HA that binds up to 1,000 times its own weight in water to penetrate deeper into the skin than traditional HA. Spilanthes acmella flower extract also brightens, and the fragrant essential oil blend created an enticing scent I enjoyed. I also like that it is free of sulfates, soap, parabens, PEG, and mineral oil, as well as being cruelty free and vegan.

Tara Spa Therapy Hyaluronic Hydration Mask ($7.14)
Ingredients of Note
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Aloe leaf extract
  • Lemon extract

I love a good sheet mask, but there are some out there that are simply not good for the skin—anyone else cringe at the pictures of kids with bright-red faces after using a popular unicorn sheet mask? I have known and used Tara products for years and can attest to the fact that the founder and formulator is meticulous with her line. As such, I was sure I would love this mask, and I did. It is extremely soothing and refreshing, and after leaving it on for 10 minutes, there was plenty of product to massage into my skin, which looked plumped and revitalized. The company also recently underwent a rebrand, and I love the elegant new look of the packaging. I also appreciate the fact that, like all Tara products, the masks contain no synthetic fragrances, artificial dyes, or colors; are paraben free; are not tested on animals; and do not contain petroleum-based ingredients.

True Alchemy Cream Emulsion Hyaluronic Acid 1% + Betaine 1% ($32)
Ingredients of Note
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Betaine
  • Squalene
  • Olive oil

This is another rich cream that felt great on my skin without feeling greasy or sticky. According to the company, that is because the cream is a multi-lamellar emulsion, which has a similar structure to the upper layers of skin that maximize the cream's effectiveness and promotes hydration balance in the skin. The HA also works well with the betaine, a derivative of the amino acid glycine, which creates a protective layer on the skin that helps prevent moisture loss. Also impressive is this brand’s commitment to clean, sustainable ingredients. It is certified Cosmos Natural by Ecocert Greenlife according to Cosmos Standard and is PETA-approved as cruelty free. It is also formulated without SLS, SLES, and parabens.
