Ananda in the Himalayas

Set in a Maharaja’s palace estate and surrounded by a 100-acre forest in the foothills of the Himalayas, Ananda in the Himalayas (Garhwal Uttarakhand, India), a pioneer in holistic health and wellness is expanding with even more specialized and focused programming that emphasizes the importance of prioritizing one’s physical and mental health.

Ananda’s wellness programs which integrate traditional Ayurveda with classical yoga and meditation, were recently enhanced with an entirely new platform of emotional healing and therapy. Emotional healers with expertise in spiritual healing, hypnotherapy, and energy work help guests understand their challenges from a deeper level of awareness to create a life of emotional balance. Expanding the range of traditional healing techniques are Oriental therapies including acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, Tibetan kuu nye, and other practices to rebalance and center the physical and energy systems.

The destination spa will now offer the following:

  • The Rebalance Program, involving new Oriental therapies to treat hormonal imbalances, addresses the symptoms of menopause in women and testosterone and other hormones in men.
  • The Ayurvedic Rejuvenation & Immunity Booster is designed to improve vitality through Panchakarma, Ayurvedic treatments, a nourishing diet, immunity-boosting rasayanas (longevity-boosting treatments), and yoga.
  • Chronic Pain Management features a highly customized balance of physiotherapy procedures, topical Ayurvedic therapies, stress-relieving yogic postures, and an anti-inflammatory diet.
  • The Post Covid Rejuvenation Program, designed to address long COVID, begins with a comprehensive assessment of the individual’s symptoms before being prescribed a host of Ayurvedic therapies, diet, herbal medicines and supplements, yoga, pranayama, and meditation.

Earlier this year, Ananda in the Himalayas also completed the final stage of a three-year renovation that began in 2019. The final stage involved renovating the villas, restaurant, and spa. The one-bedroom and two-bedroom villas with their temperature-controlled pools offer unparalleled privacy. The new designs are inspired by local Himalayan craft and vibrant colors reflecting the natural flora of the surrounding forests. The expansive deluxe rooms renovated earlier this year combine a timeless charm with modern amenities and balconies that offer relaxing views of the gardens or the valley.

Ananda’s renovated restaurant now offers a new show kitchen where weekly classes by the experienced chefs showcase signature dishes from around the world inspired by Ayurvedic principles. Gourmet wellness menus at Ananda feature locally sourced, fresh seasonal ingredients fortified by Ayurvedic and native Indian medicinal ingredients from the herb garden on the estate.

The enhanced spa now includes a new physiotherapy facility with state-of-the-art equipment including cry screening, gait and posture analysis, laser therapy, and a new Infrared sauna chamber. Programs integrate physiotherapy with Ayurveda and other wellness offerings to provide customized solutions to address various musculoskeletal issues.

Opened in 2000, Ananda in the Himalayas continues to champion health and wellbeing by integrating traditional Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation. Now, guests can also tap into emotional healing, as well.
