Anthology of Athens, an 18-suite boutique hotel and member of The Leading Hotels of the World, recently debuted the Anthology Dialogues, a new private, scholar-led guest experience designed to connect travelers with the intellectual foundations of Greece. The first of its kind in Athens, the initiative offers intimate, one-on-one or small group conversations with leading historians and philosophers. Set directly across from the Temple of Olympian Zeus and within view of the Acropolis, the experience contextualizes the landmarks surrounding guests through curated discussions exploring ancient philosophy, cultural identity, and the origins of wellbeing.
The inaugural series features professor Despina Iosif, a historian specializing in the Greco-Roman world, whose work spans academic research, published scholarship, and advisory roles including contributions to BBC documentaries. Through a structured yet conversational format, sessions invite guests to engage directly with classical thought by examining how ancient teachings on ethics, resilience, and human behavior continue to inform contemporary life.
At its core, Anthology Dialogues reframes cultural immersion as active participation rather than passive observation. Guests are invited to interpret the historical significance of Athens, connecting philosophical ideas to the city’s physical landscape and their own modern-day perspectives. Sessions ($180 Euros, 45 minutes) for up to four guests are hosted in intimate settings across the hotel, including its curated library and private guest spaces and are available daily from 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM, upon request. Topics include Ancient Greek Philosophy and Major Thinkers; Stoicism and Its Modern-Day Relevance; Everyday Life In Ancient Greece; and Greek Identity, History, and Cultural Legacy.
“Wellness today is defined not only by space and service, but by access to knowledge, to perspective, and to experiences that resonate beyond the stay,” says Dimitrios Kontogeorgos, CEO of Anthology of Athens. “With Anthology Dialogues, we are creating a framework for engagement, where guests can explore Athens not just as a destination, but as a source of ideas that continue to shape how we think and live.”
With the launch of Anthology Dialogues, Anthology of Athens expands its programming beyond traditional hospitality, establishing an ongoing cultural platform that will evolve through rotating scholars, expanded topics, and a future speaker series. The initiative reflects a broader shift within the brand toward experiences that integrate intellectual exploration with wellbeing anchored in Greece’s enduring influence on philosophy, science, and the arts.
This philosophy extends across the hotel, from its curated library and Balaneion Spa to The Botany, its rooftop restaurant, where menus incorporate Greece’s most beneficial herbs within a culinary approach rooted in balance and restoration. Together, these elements position Anthology as a destination where cultural immersion and holistic living intersect.
