The Retreat Costa Rica, a luxury wellness boutique resort located in the rainforest near the picturesque village of Atenas, has introduced “The Big M: Mastering Menopause,” a special package designed to help women navigate the multiple hormonal challenges triggered by surgery, perimenopause, menopause, and/or post-menopause.

According to Diana Stobo, a celebrity chef, bestselling author, health and wellness life coach, and founder of The Retreat, this new package provides much-needed relief for those suffering the repercussions of hormonal changes—with a focus on balancing hormones and mood swings with diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.

“Menopause is a time of change, transition, and sometimes, emotional disruption. As women enter this natural but perhaps turbulent phase of their lives, significant shifts in lifestyle and mindset can be necessary to cope,” says Stobo. “Our goal is to help women understand and manage these important changes—and the myriad symptoms that accompany them—and learn how to achieve the hormonal balance necessary to attain an improved quality of life, good health, and emotional balance.”

The complete Mastering Menopause Package at The Retreat Costa Rica includes:

  • Pre-arrival video call with the resort’s medical doctor to customize the experience
  • Arrival consultation and lifestyle plan with the doctor
  • Individually curated wellness diet for hormonal balance
  • One Kegel exercise class to strengthen the pelvic floor
  • One resistance and strength training class to build bone density and increase fat metabolism
  • One menopause belly and chest exercise class for strengthening the core and lifting the chest

  • Two Vida Shirodhara Bliss sessions to improve sleep, relieve stress, and provide deep relaxation
  • One maharani milk bath ritual to moisten and tighten the skin
  • One 60-minute crystal healing body scrub therapy or seaweed wrap to revitalize
  • One hormone-balancing acupuncture session
  • One anti-aging facial to revitalize and refresh dry skin (choose from aesthetic menu)
  • One wellness juicing class
  • One Q&A and progress review upon departure with the doctor
  • Daily 15-minute motivational check-ins with the doctor

The package includes evening detox infusion tea; digestive bitters for liver detox, elimination and increased metabolism; more than 100 pages of anti-inflammatory recipes delivered via email; daily access to Vida Mia Healing Center and Spa; a customized spa itinerary; complimentary activities including meditation and yoga; complimentary Wi-Fi; and a welcome amenity.

“The Mastering Menopause package allows us to teach our guests how to utilize appropriate foods, exercise, and mindfulness to maintain a hormonal balance throughout this often-unsettling time in a woman’s life,” says Stobo.

Package price, available through Dec. 31. 2023, starts at $725 per night, based on a seven-night minimum stay.
