This weekend, September 18-19, marks the 5th annual World Wellness Weekend, which will be celebrated with an array of complimentary wellness activities that can be enjoyed virtually and in-person, in compliance with local health and safety precautions. With events taking place across 133 countries and in more than 1,500 venues from Argentina to Zambia. Companies such as Accor, Hilton Hotels, Marriot Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, Six Senses, and Waldorf Astoria are just some of those connecting people through wellness with featured activities.
“Despite the challenges related to Covid-19, World Wellness Weekend is growing steadily with more and more participants, and is a testament to the need and desire for living well,” says Jean-Guy de Gabriac, the Brussels-based founder of World Wellness Weekend. “Last year, the imposing quarantine and lockdown measures around the world created a shift in mentality, offering many the opportunity to consider and act towards their wellbeing. It is time that we learn to live well with the current situation, and with each other.”
Taking place each autumn just before the September Equinox, it showcases the expertise and passion of wellness and fitness professionals with the support and guidance of local ambassadors, encouraging local communities to be more active, more often, with friends and family.
World Wellness Weekend is a non-profit event aligned with the United Nations SDG3 (Good Health & Well-being for All). The celebration connects communities and educates them on the Five Pillars of Wellness: better sleep to increase creativity, better nutrition to strengthen immunity, more movement to enhance vitality, deeper sense of mindfulness to enjoy serenity, and a heightened sense of purpose to share more solidarity.
