Deeannah Seymour co-founded PH-D Feminine Health as a response to the inadequate availability of holistic feminine hygiene and wellness products in the market. Facing her own feminine health challenges, she experienced firsthand the struggle of seeking effective care. But her walk through the flawed system led her to a revelation: boric acid. Seymour knew immediately that the benefits and effects of boric acid were what feminine health was missing. Though she had to go through a complex compound pharmacy to find it, she vowed other women wouldn’t have to.

Her background in the pharmaceutical industry, spanning 20 years, contributed to her desire to develop better alternatives for women’s health that were backed by science. PH-D Feminine Health was born and now puts boric acid—a clinically-proven molecule for feminine health—within arm’s reach for every woman. PH-D is an independently held, female-owned, and female-run company and operates with a mission to reduce the stigmas surrounding vaginal health.

PH-D Feminine Health has helped millions of women worldwide, establishing itself as one of the top-selling feminine care brands. Pioneering a whole new category in the retail industry, their holistic products are available at major retailers across the U.S. and Canada, in more than 55,000 stores. Its products are sold at an impressive rate of one bottle every 15 seconds. The brand’s holistic products are designed to empower women with greater options to take control of their vaginal wellness.

What does wellness mean to you?

I have learned that wellness is deeply personal—its definition is as unique as each of us. For me, wellness means being mindful of and continuously nurturing the health of my mind, body, and soul. It’s not about comparison or perfection, but about striving to be the best version of myself. I’ve come to understand that comparing ourselves to others only sets us up for unrealistic expectations, because each of us is beautifully, wonderfully, and intentionally made to be uniquely ourselves.

What are your favorite things to do to maintain your personal wellbeing?

Prayer and meditation have been an integral part of my personal and entrepreneurial journey. These practices have allowed me to handle the many stressors of running a company and have helped me to become a better version of myself.

Is there a specific fitness activity that you love and why?

I love to run, and I have since I was a kid. I discovered relay races, which makes me love running even more. I have traveled all over the country running races with my friends, meeting wonderful people, and creating incredible memories.

What is your favorite healthy beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), and do you have any insider tips for preparing it?

I love making a delicious quick detox smoothie which contains six to eight ounces of organic almond milk, two handfuls of frozen wild blueberries, and two scoops of all-in-one protein powder!

What is your greatest wellness achievement?

Running the Boston Marathon 18 months after donating a kidney.

What person in wellness do you most admire and why?

It has to be my dear friend Kimmye Bohannon. She has been an entrepreneur and trailblazer in the wellness space for two decades. She is a board-certified holistic health coach and offers real-world, practical advice for busy women on the go on how to make small changes in your routine to live a better, healthier life.

Do you have a secret health or wellness tip you would like to share?

Con-CRET Creatine HCl! This is the most important supplement for my brain, my immune system, and my lean muscle mass. This form of creatine is the most bioavailable, and I don’t get side effects like water retention and bloat like with other creatines.

What is your favorite self-care routine?

I absolutely love my infrared sauna. It’s my favorite thing to do to decompress.

What brings you joy?

Spending quality time with my friends and family, which includes a lot of travel, many meals, and making memories.
