What does wellness mean to you?
To me, wellness means feeling harmony, balance, and health in both mind and body—complete and total wellbeing. It means taking care of myself physically and mentally, and finding peace no matter what’s happening around me.
What are your favorite things to do to maintain your personal wellbeing?
To maintain my personal wellbeing, I prioritize my faith, connecting with nature, being outdoors, moving my body, eating nourishing foods, and helping others.
Is there a specific fitness activity that you love and why?
I love being outdoors and going on hikes. Taking in beautiful scenery and fresh air always inspires me and makes me feel well.
What is your favorite healthy food, and do you have a favorite way of preparing it?
This may seem basic, but I’m a salad lover. Any salad, any dressing, anything in the salad is my favorite. I love a good “cowboy caviar,” which is a fresh and flavorful salad or dip typically made with beans, peppers, corn, and really whatever else you want to add to it. It’s always delicious!
What is your idea of balanced healthy happiness?
True balanced happiness to me is the ability to feel okay even during hard moments.
Do you have a secret health or wellness tip you would like to share?
Set your own goals, give yourself grace, and enjoy the journey reaching your goals whether they are mental, physical, or both.
What is your favorite place for a healthy vacation or escape?
Newport, RI. I grew up vacationing there and I still love going to the beach, soaking up the sun and views, and disconnecting from “real life.”
What is your favorite self-care routine?
I like to unplug and do something I love. I’ll take time for myself to do my favorite skincare routine or go for a walk to get fresh air.
What is your go-to for de-stressing?
If I am ever feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I will sit down and write out why I am feeling stressed. I make a to-do list, and slowly check off things I need to get done. Checking things off my list one by one makes me feel accomplished, which then makes me feel good and less stressed.
How do you celebrate small victories?
I pause and acknowledge it within myself. I try to give myself credit, even for the small things.
