Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Art of Living Retreat Center (Boone, NC) recently reintroduced its transformational Panchakarma program. This ancient healing journey, blending Ayurvedic wisdom and expert care, is led by Medha Garud, the center’s director of Ayurveda Programs.
A time-honored Ayurvedic cleansing practice, Panchakarma is designed to restore balance and wellbeing. Guided by Medha, this transformative experience begins with a one-on-one consultation, followed by a personalized regimen of diet, herbal remedies, and therapeutic treatments. Rooted in the belief that toxins are the root cause of disease, Panchakarma gently releases physical and emotional impurities, relieving stress and restoring vitality. Guests can tailor their retreat with eight rejuvenating therapies, including Abhyanga, an Ayurvedic massage using warm, herbal-infused oils to loosen toxins, calm the nervous system, and promote deep nourishment, relaxation, and renewal.
“Art of Living Retreat Center’s Panchakarma journeys are personalized for guests whose intentions are to release toxins and restore harmony within the mind and body on a deeper cellular level,” says Garud. “This is an incredibly powerful practice, the cornerstone of Ayurveda, and its benefits have been utilized for thousands of years. The reintroduction of Panchakarma will again provide our guests with transformative detoxification beyond our already robust retreat offerings.”
Each session is carefully crafted to restore balance, boost vitality, and support the body’s innate healing abilities. Guests will also leave with a personalized wellness plan, including dietary guidance, post-cleanse instructions, nourishing recipes, and practical tools that empower them to maintain their wellbeing after the retreat.
The first Panchakarma Retreat (starting at $5,200) session will be from March 27–April 3, 2025, with sessions to follow every two weeks. The seven-night, eight-day retreat includes pre-arrival diet instructions and herbal recommendations to prepare for the experience, signature treatments, yoga and meditation sessions, classes and demos, and accommodations and vegetarian meals throughout the stay.
