Originally from Jamaica, Stacy Bahadosingh, spa manager at St. Somewhere Spa at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort (FL), has more than 15 years of experience in the spa and hospitality industry. Her journey began in sales before transitioning to the JW Turnberry Marriott. Seizing the opportunity to contribute her skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere, she jumped at the chance to join Margaritaville during its pre-opening phase. As spa manager, she handles day-to-day operations and group sales. Outside of work, Bahadosingh finds joy in spending quality time with her two sons and beloved dogs. Here she shares the wellness activities she can’t live without.

What does wellness mean to you?

Wellness, to me, is about embracing a relaxed and carefree lifestyle that promotes harmony and balance. At Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, wellness goes beyond traditional spa treatments. It’s about immersing in a tropical oasis where you can escape the everyday stresses and rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit. Our approach to wellness integrates elements of island living, from soothing massages to beachfront yoga sessions, creating an experience that transports guests to a state of pure relaxation and bliss. It’s about fostering a sense of paradise where guests can unwind, recharge, and embrace the joy of living life to the fullest.

Is there a specific fitness activity that you love and why?

I prioritize meditation both in the mornings and before bed as a cornerstone of my wellness routine. Starting the day with meditation helps me set a positive tone, while winding down with it at night promotes relaxation. Additionally, I incorporate sound balls into my nighttime ritual, finding their soothing tones to be incredibly calming and conducive to a peaceful mind. These practices not only enhance my overall wellbeing but also allow me to cultivate a sense of inner peace and balance amidst life’s demands.

What is your favorite healthy food, and do you have a favorite way of preparing it?

One of my favorite healthy foods is bean stew. It’s a hearty dish that features beans and a variety of vegetables simmered in a flavorful coconut sauce. What makes it truly special for me is the opportunity to infuse it with natural herbs like rosemary, basil, and mint, which I grow myself. Not only do these herbs add a burst of fresh flavor, but the aroma they create during preparation is simply delightful. I find that the combination of wholesome ingredients and aromatic herbs not only satisfies my taste buds but also nourishes my body and soul, making it a cherished part of my culinary repertoire.

What is your favorite healthy beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), and do you have any insider tips for preparing it?

My favorite healthy beverage is natural juice, especially green juice and citrus blends. I enjoy the process of juicing using my juicer as it allows me to create fresh and vibrant concoctions. One insider tip to enhance the health benefits of juicing is adding turmeric and ginger. These potent ingredients not only add a zesty kick to the juice but also provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, promoting overall wellbeing. Incorporating turmeric and ginger into my juice routine has been a game-changer for me, boosting both flavor and nutritional value.

Do you have a secret health or wellness tip you would like to share?

For maintaining a healthy lifestyle, I strongly believe in detox practices. One of my go-to methods is a 24-hour water detox at least once a month. Additionally, I rely on tea detoxes infused with natural herbs and extracts, sourced from a local holistic shop. Ingredients like dandelion, burdock root, and ginger are staples in my detox routine. But what truly ignites my passion is sourcing and preparing sea moss. I believe in its incredible health benefits, especially for gut health. I purchase sea moss and enjoy making it into a gel for maximum health benefits. Incorporating these detox practices into my routine keeps me feeling rejuvenated and energized.

What is your favorite place for a healthy vacation or escape?

My favorite place for a healthy vacation or escape is Jamaica, my birthplace and where I was raised. It holds a special place in my heart, not only because of the memories from my upbringing but also because of the natural beauty it offers, from the majestic mountains to the pristine beaches. Additionally, being surrounded by family and friends adds to the sense of warmth and connection that I cherish. Visiting Jamaica allows me to immerse myself in nature, reconnect with loved ones, and rejuvenate my mind, body, and spirit, making it the perfect destination for a healthy getaway.

What is your favorite self-care routine?

My favorite self-care routine revolves around my comprehensive skincare regimen. I prioritize cleansing, toning, exfoliating, and moisturizing to maintain healthy and radiant skin. A key step in my routine is exfoliation, which helps remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. Additionally, I love incorporating natural aloe vera as a face mask for its soothing and hydrating properties. This indulgent routine not only keeps my skin looking its best but also allows me to unwind and recharge after a long day.

What is your go-to for de-stressing?

My go-to for de-stressing involves a combination of indulgent treatments. I find getting facials to be incredibly relaxing, as they not only rejuvenate my skin but also provide a calming experience. Massages are another favorite of mine, helping to release tension and promote overall relaxation. Recently, I’ve also discovered the benefits of dry brushing, which not only exfoliates dead skin but also stimulates circulation and promotes lymphatic drainage. Incorporating these treatments into my routine allows me to unwind and melt away stress, leaving me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

What aspect of your wellbeing do you struggle with the most, or would most like to improve?

While I have a very strict routine of waking up early, one area where I struggle is winding down at night. Sometimes, I find it challenging to shut down my mind and truly relax before bedtime. This can lead to difficulty falling asleep at times. Improving my nighttime relaxation routine and finding effective ways to calm my mind before bed is an aspect of my wellbeing that I would like to focus on and improve.

What brings you joy?

What brings me immense joy is spending quality time with my two sons. We cherish our dinners together, engaging in constructive conversations that deepen our bond. Recognizing the importance of maintaining connections amid our busy schedules, we’ve established a tradition of weekly Thursday gatherings. Whether in person or through video chat, we take the time to reflect, catch up, and simply enjoy each other’s company, fostering love and an appreciation for life. Additionally, my sons have introduced me to the game of chess, and while I’m still learning, I find joy in the process of mastering this strategic game alongside them. These moments of connection and shared experiences with my family enrich my life and contribute significantly to my overall sense of wellbeing.
