New author, non-profit founder, motivational speaker, and personal development expert Kayla Logue will soon release Always Squeezing Lemons: Taking Responsibility to Define Your Success. In the book, Logue begs readers to ask themselves “How do you define success? Does it authentically start with you?”

In her mid-20s, Logue was living a superficially “picture-perfect” yet inauthentic life—marred by an unhappy marriage, substance abuse, and trauma. That all changed after she decided to leave all of it behind, with only $900 to her name. With her raw and unfiltered storytelling, Logue shares her personal journey to overcome her own barriers to her most authentic self, while guiding readers to do the same.

“I imagined myself on a giant yacht in the Mediterranean Sea, dropping that heavy load off, never to be found or picked up again,” she says. “It was something I had truly never felt before; I immediately felt at peace. I was driving away from everything I had worked for: my soon-to-be ex-husband, my job, and several people I loved who I knew I would not see again. I had a car full of only personal belongings, $900, no direction at all, and was navigating it in the middle of a global pandemic. It was heartbreaking, but it was liberating.”

In Always Squeezing Lemons, Loge candidly explores:

  • The transformative power of always squeezing lemons and seeing life’s challenges as opportunities
  • 10 journal prompts to promote self-reflection, self-discovery, and growth
  • 7 “lemon drops” or key takeaways for readers to apply to their own personal growth
  • Embracing the 3 F’s: Fuck up, Fail, and Figure out
  • How she replaced her abuse of alcohol and sex with healthy habits and stopped hiding from herself and her trauma
  • Feeling lost after winning the title of “Top Salesperson for 2022” despite being professionally and personally stable for the first time
  • How journaling allowed her to process a near-death experience that brought a renewed appreciation for her life

Logue’s storytelling is raw and unfiltered. Coupled with thought-provoking journal prompts, it emphasizes the importance of embracing life’s challenges, redefining your version of success, and learning how to truly love yourself in the process. Always Squeezing Lemons is a guide to help you define what success means to you, so you can turn any lemon thrown your way into a glass of delicious lemonade.
